About Us

A & A was started in 1961 by brothers Ray & Bill Abrams. In the beginning, the brothers focused mainly on go karts. It wasn't long however until their love of motorcycles took over. While they had started selling motorcycles before then, in 1963, A & A started selling Yamaha motorcycles which spelled the end of the brother's partnership.

A & A under Ray's leadership continued to grow. In those days, being involved in racing was pivotal to the success of a dealership. As Ray's involvement in racing grew, he saw the need to branch out and provide race components to the masses. A & A was one of the first companies to offer plastic motorcycle fenders. Some of the other early products were high compression cylinder heads and reeds for Yamahas and Hodakas as well as handlebars.

In 1973, A & A introduced BMX bicycles. There were three versions available; rigid, single shock and twin shock. All had telescopic forks. More than 10,000 frame kits were sold as well as 2,000 complete bicycles. Today these bicycles are very popular with collectors and A & A still gets calls for parts.

In 1984, the opportunity to again be more closely involved in dirt track racing came through in the form of Carlisle tires. With new partner, Chris Carter, A & A took on the national distribution of Carlisle's motorcycle racing tires. The next twelve years would find A &A traveling the whole Grand National circuit providing tires and service to the racers as well as providing a hospitality suite to series sponsor Camel.

In 1996, Ray's daughter Rochelle purchased Chris Carter's interest in A & A and brought the business back into the family fold. The nearly twelve years since then have been very busy years. A & A has greatly increased the size of the product line in that time. What comes next is anyone's guess, but one thing we know is with an eye on the past, we'll race towards the future.
